Cubs in the WBC, Semi-Final Edition

The defending champs sent the Uncle Sams home with a 9-4 game last night. Fukudome was moved up to the 6th spot, but had the same general results. He was 0 for 3 with a walk and a K. His fly out with runners on first and third and no outs didn't produce a run. He scored in the fourth after getting aboard on an error. After he walked in the eighth, he was replaced for a pinch runner.

With the U.S. team being sent home, Theodore Lilly will return to the Cubs. Lilly started two games in the WBC and didn't record a decision. He gave up 4 earned runs over 6 and 1/3, which included 3 HR's. He struck out 5.

In WBC-related news, the usually quiet Derrek Lee spoke out about the pressure the U.S. team placed on him by inviting him to join the team. Lee was upset that they publicly invited him despite the fact he wasn't playing for the Cubs due to a quad injury.
